MOONRAKER 1979

Principal photography on Moonraker began on the 11th of August 1978 and completed on the 26 February 1979. Locations included Venice (seen also in From Russia With Love (1963) and later in 2006's Casino Royale), France, Rio De Janeiro, the USA and outer space! Highlights in the section of the archive include several behind the scenes stills of the extraordinary special effects created for the film's space sequences.  Although the production was based in France, exterior effects shots of Drax’s space station were completed at Pinewood Studios in England. Look out for an amusing behind the scenes still of director Lewis Gilbert (6 March 1920 – 23 February 2018), Roger Moore (14 October 1927 – 23 May 2017) and Desmond Llewelyn (12 September 1914 – 19 December 1999) during filming of the Q scene at the beginning of the movie.  Still photographers credited as Patrick Morin (1928 – 2002). Peter Bischoff also photographed stills for the film.
